The Circle-Shaped Sky

I have a story. It is all about the little young frog and the old frog living inside a deep well. All their lives, what they know is that the shape of the sky is circle because the mouth of the well has a circle-shape. One day, the two frogs are having a conversation. "Do you know what is up there?", the little frog asks. "It's only a circle-shaped sky lad", the big frog answers. "I'm just so tired living inside this dark well and I want to go outside and look for a better home", the little frog says. "If I were you little frog, I would not leave this place because there's nothing there outside but just a bunch stupid circle sky and you might starve there", the old frog answers. The young frog decides to leave and go outside the well. "Are you sure you will not come with me and remain in this dark well?", young frog asks. "I will not come with you little frog, it's to risky and too difficult", the old frog answers.

Then, with determination and strength, the little frog jumps upward until it reaches the top of well. Amazed and surprised, the little frog jumps for joy of seeing such wonderful views outside the well. His heart beats so fast because of the excitement and happiness he feels of seeing the dancing trees, the singing birds, the flowing clear water, the colorful flowers, and the very bright sun. The little frog realizes that beyond the circle-shaped sky is a wide world full of colors, dreams, hopes and challenges for a better life.

The story tells us that we should not be afraid to come out of our little shells and discover the big wide world. If we are still imprisoned of our lack of confidence and fear from committing mistake, that would limit ourselves from discovering our real talents and potentials. We deprive ourselves from learning new things and ideas.

Lets break the chain of fear and come outside our shells. We should not be afraid to face our challenges in life because outside, beyond the well that we're hiding, awaits our dreams and our visions.

Never Apologize! Never Explain!

Being not sensitive causes wounds and painfulness to the people around you. You tend to hurt your friends, or your family or even someone you don't know through your actions and words. Inevitably, we sometimes commit mistakes because of our carelessness and tactlessness. What shall you do during these situations?

The people who molded you taught you to say sorry or ask for forgiveness. That is correct... but not at all times! There are times that asking for forgiveness and saying sorry and trying to explain your side can only complicate the situation.The person you cause wound could become more emotional and hysterical. Because he is in an emotional state, he might not understand the words that are coming out of your mouth.

So, the best thing to do is to just shut up! Make things up to him without apologizing and explaining your side. Do it with your actions by making good deeds to him or trying to be friend him again without mentioning the hurt you caused him. Most importantly, you should learn from your mistakes and change your negative attitudes so that next time, you will not commit mistakes again. Remember that healing a wound will take time. Remember...... "time will heal".

Swaying With the Wind

In going against the furious wind, many lives were endangered.

I disagree with Moses' decision of giving up his crown as a royal prince of Egypt. I am not against the Israelite. I just want Moses not to give up his royalty. I just want him not to sacrifice. If I were Moses, I would use my power as a prince of Egypt to liberate the Israelite from oppression and exploitation. Just like today, many people had come out in the open to expose the graft and corruption in the government and their security were compromised. They no longer can perform their daily work for income source for they have to hide because the government or the powerful persons they exposed were already threatening them or even tried to kill them.

Governor Ed Panlilio, a former priest and a governor of Isabela, Philippines, were invited by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to have a meeting in Malacanang Palace with her together with the other Philippine governors. In the actual meeting, each of them received a gift. When he opened the gift, he discovered that inside it was a bundle of 500,000 Pesos. He decided to expose this to the public through the media. For me, exposing that cash gift given to Governor Panlilio and the other governors, was useless. Indeed, what he exposed had helped the people to become vigilant.

Yeah, he had done the right thing, but what if the 500,000 he returned after exposing it will be used again in bribery. That would be awful. If I were Governor Panlilio, I would just go with the flow and keep the 500,000 money. Keeping the money doesn’t make you one of them. You have still options to choose from, either you’ll keep it in your personal savings, so, that would look like you join them or use it to help people who actually have not benefited from the tax that they have been paying.

If you cannot fight the forces of evil, just join them and make good out of it.
